ANNOUNCEMENTS DEPARTMENT OF RAIL AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION - PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FUNDING - FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008 - The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is now accepting requests for federal and state funding to support public transportation, expanded transportation for people with disabilities, employment transportation, ridesharing and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs in Virginia for fiscal year 2008. Funds are available for technical assistance, demonstration grants, TDM/ridesharing programs, capital acquisitions, administrative and operating costs related to public transportation expenses. DRPT is also accepting grant requests for Federal Transit Administration (FTA) programs: Section 5310 capital program to improve mobility for die elderly and individuals with disabilities, and Section 5316 Job Access and Reverse Commute formula program to improve access to transportation services, employment, and employment-related activities for low-income individuals, All grant applications must be received by Thursday, February I, 2007.
