after tax returns are due a day for people to increase their awareness of this important issue and to make it easier for people to learn more about it.
Advance Medical Directives include living wills (written instructions to doctors and hospitals), durable powers of attorney (authorizing a family member or loved one to make medical decisions for you if you are unable to) and other arrangements. They are easier to put in place than many people believe, are not expensive (and often free), and can save families a great deal of anguish when done properly. No lawyer or notary is usually needed.
The seminars are presented in association with Health Law Section of the Virginia State Bar and other organizations. Health professionals and an attorney from the law firm of Robert M. Miller, P.C. of Warrenton will be available throughout the afternoon to discuss advance directives and answer questions for free, and free advance medical directive forms that meet the requirements of Virginia law will also be available. All are welcome.
