White Easter
If anyone in Rappahannock was dreaming of a white Easter last week, they got their wish when they woke up Saturday morning. The annual Easter egg hunt at the Town of Washington Fire Hall looked like a winter sport as children searched for treasures beneath a layer of freshly fallen snow. The Weather Channel recorded a low temperature of 29 degrees on Friday in Washington - just one degree above the all-time April 6 low of 28 degrees in 1944. The average tow for April 6 is 40 degrees. Temperatures remained near record lows on Easter Sunday, with the mercury dropping down to 25 degrees near the record tow of 23 for April 8 in 1975. For some personal memories of a snowy April, check out this week’s Boston column in B section.
