Rappahannock County’s boys track and field team picked up its first victory of the season on April 4 at Strasburg against the first Bull Run District opponent it has faced.
The Panthers outscored the Rams 34-32 in the four-team meet that also featured Group AA school Warren County and Musselman of West Virginia.
Senior Irving Smith swept the jumping events, posting first-place distances in the long jump, triple jump and high jump. Smith has won the triple, jump in all three of the Panthers’ meets so far this season.
Senior Jesse Palmer won the 400-meter run and sophomore Daniel Rollins finished second in the 100-meter dash.
The boys’ 400-meter relay team also finished a very close second to Warren County.
