Upon arising the next morning what did eyes behold, a beautiful white blanket had covered the earth, several inches, of snow had fallen during the night. While gazing toward the garden another sight to behold, green cabbage leaves peeping up through the snow. This happened on April 7,1918 and several years later my parents left Sperryville, moving to Castleton where father became manager on the Cannon Farms and later purchasing their own farm in Boston, where we six children grew up and were told many times about the April 7th snowfall.

Even though living the rest of their lives in Boston they traveled for many years by buggy and wagon back to their church in Sperryville regularly and later purchasing a vehicle, with father up in age learned to drive thus making traveling move comfortable.
