Eight students from Rappahannock County Elementary and High School competed in the March 8 Virginia Regional Science Fair in Charlottesville, Virginia. These students were the winners of our local science fair held in January.
There were over 150 students participating in this year’s regional science fair. All participants, including Elena Kritter, Katie Long, Noel Johns, Zack Hitt, Isabelle Eastham, Adam Carter, Tessa Crews and Greg Czekaj, received recognition for their participation. In addition to this recognition, the following awards were given to our students:
Elena Kritter - 2nd place plaque in Animal Science for her project “I’m Ticked”. Her project tested odors from many types of animals to see how they would attract ticks. This qualifies her for participation in the State Science Fair competition in Ashland Virginia later this Spring.
Noel Johns - Honorable Mention ribbon in Environmental Analysis. Noel’s project “Acid in the Area” investigated pond water, stream water and tap water for pH fluctuations immediately after it rained and then again two weeks later.
