Commission Chairman Charles Strittmatter (Wakefield District) opposed Weinberg’s suggestion, while the three remaining commissioners seemed neutral about the issue and just wanted to break the stalemate.

“I don’t think this wording does any damage to the document,” said Ron Frazier; the Board of Supervisors’ representative on the commission. “If the supervisors don’t like it, it can be removed prior to adoption.”

In the end, the commission recommended by a vote of 4-2 that the supervisors adopt the ordinance with Weinberg’s suggested wording. Henry and Strittmatter cast the two dissenting votes.

The Board of Supervisors will consider the ordinance at its Aug. 6 meeting.
