the Rappahannock Woolen Mill, which ceased operation in 1929, and the old Victorian miller's house on a bluff above the villages, there are several other unique structures -some of which were once the homes of mill workers.
Centerpiece of the village continues to be the Laurel Mills Store.
Laurel Mills Historic District was added to the Virginia and National registers in 2004. It was noted that "Laurel Mills appears today much as it did in 1927," in the Virginia Historic Resources Board notes.
