The run that Rappahannock County has enjoyed recently could not come at a better time. Tonight, the Lady Panthers host district leader Strasburg, which defeated Rappahannock County earlier this season. The match starts at 7:30 p.m.
There is a double-edged sword with the Strasburg match. If Rappahannock County loses, it finishes second. Its next match would be Nov. 1, the district tournament semifinals.
But if Rappahannock County were to win, it would play Tuesday night against Strasburg. The winner of the match would be the tournament’s top seed and receive an automatic bid to the Region B tournament.
The Lady Panthers have played five times in nine days. Losing tonight to Strasburg would give them a week off, but no one wants to lose.
“I’m tired. The girls are tired,” Wilde said. “But we want to win. We want to beat Strasburg.”
