ALL SOUL’S DAY
An official holiday of the Catholic calendar. All Soul’s Day is celebrated on November 2nd to commemorate the faithful departed who are believed to be in purgatory. The living fray for these souls in an effort to assist them from Purgatory to Heaven. Just like living members of the church, souls in Purgatory must suffer in order to be purged of their sins. Thus, through prayer and good work, the living may help their departed friends and family. Celebrated in churches all over the world. All Soul’s Day receives particular focus in Mexico, where it is combined with All Hallow's Eve and An Saint’s Day, which are known collectively as "Los Dias de los Muertos” (The Days of the Dead).
