What occurred at last
week’s Planning Commission meeting was so bizarre, that anyone considering owning property in Rappahannock County may well want to reconsider.
It was obvious that the current County Planning Commission fails in its duty to consider the concerns of many citizens. In this case, it was neighbors and interested citizens, who spoke or wrote mainly not in opposition to, but with individual concerns about an extremely vague, land-use exception under consideration. Virtually ignored and disenfranchised, they sat as the Commission moved to approve a property use plan with a bare minimum of restrictions, which has major potential to open the county door wide to new and unprecedented land use options - we all may well not want or welcome.
