Fly-by-Night Books, Etc., the offbeat used book store that occupies an old storage bam at the edge of Flint Hill, will be closing this winter, owner Pam Owen said in a phone interview last Friday.
Owen will be taking a select collection of books — nature, science, art, cooking and gardening — to Copper Fox Antiques, an antique shop in Sperryville, where she will sell them on consignment. She hopes to move the books in mid-December; and is now offering a 20- to 50-percentoff sale to get her current inventory out the door
With her books on the sales floor at Copper Fox Antiques, Owen will continue her love affair with the uncommon, and die will have more time for the “treasure hunt,” as she calls it.
“Management has become an issue for me,” she said “I want to be available to do more buying. I want to be able to buy selectively.”
Shedding her management responsibilities, she will be free to comb through books at auctions and estate sales on the weekends, time that she now spends running her shop.
“I just want to move it in a different direction,” she said
