QHow do you plan to
minimize expenses for the sheriff’s office budget?
A I plan to look at the
budget in fine detail and see what can be done to lower the budget. This will be done if possible, but not at the expense of officer safety or citizen safety. I plan to apply for state and federal grants that were initially applied for by Sheriff Gary Settle and have just been reapplied for over and over. Grants are out there for training, equipment and overtime to increase deputies’ salaries. I understand that these grants are taxpayers’ money, but why not get our share for this county?

attract and retain topnotch employees in the sheriff’s office?
A I feel that we are
fortunate to have people that want to work here. It is very easy for someone to come to work here, get trained and then move on to a bigger agency where they can make a lot more money. We have a good group of people here within the
