ties of Rappahannock residents?
The local composite index (LCI) is not working in our favor. The state believes we are a very wealthy county and don’t need their help. I believe we, the county taxpayers, must promote change that will improve the state’s contribution to our school - system. The newly formed funding committee on which I participate, is looking at this and other ideas to funnel state monies into our county. I also believe that there may be ways to ‘tune’ our school system, but I’m currently concerned about the quality of service we provide to those who have no vote — our students. I don’t believe I can reduce taxes, however, I will work to reduce the annual increase needed to operate the largest business in our county.
