By Kevin Allen Rappahannock News Staff Writer The Schoolhouse in Sperryville is now .officially the home of The Rappahannock lank, a community center that will serve as office space for county nonprofit organizations and a venue for a wide range of events and activities. , Schoolhouse owner Cliff Miller snd Mike Mahoney, chairman of the Rappahannock Nonprofit Center Board of Directors, signed a five-year lease for the building Friday. The agreement includes an option for another five-year lease after the first term is over. The Link’s mission is to foster collective action between nonprofit organizations, citizens and local government to preserve and enhance Rappahannock. The center is not just for the the arts or the environment or any other specific interest, Mahoney said. “We’re for every part of the community.” Several organizations, including Headwaters, Ki Theatre, the Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance and RappFLOW, have already made plana to rent office space in The T.ink And there is enough room in the 5,500square-foot building for more organizations, said Nonprofit Center Executive Director Melanie Kopjanski. The Nonprofit Center will move into The I .ink on Nov. 1. “The synergy that everybody hopes will result from this will be tremendously beneficial to the community” Miller said. Another major benefit ofThe Link is that it will provide a venue for local organizations to have large events in Rappahannock. The Rappahannock Lions Club is scheduled to hold its annual raffle and dinner at The Link in November. In the past, Open house Everyone is invited to have a look inside The Rappahannock Link from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Attendees will be able to tour the new community center's classrooms and team about future uses in the budding.
