The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL), in collaboration with the Shenandoah Valley Spay and Neuter Clinic, has opened registration for the third of its regular monthly trips to Harrisonburg. Under this new program, costs of "fixing” pets are reduced dramatically: male cats $45, females $50, male dogs $55, female dogs $65. (Small additional charges may apply, depending on the animal’s vaccination history.) Owners register and pay in person in advance at the RAWL shelter in Amissville. First come, first served. Act now: the vehicle carrying cats and dogs is not a moving van. The next van trip will be Wednesday; Oct 31. Please take note: registration for this trip will dose on Monday, Oct 29. A series of classes providing hands-on training, information and support to family caregivers will be held on Thursdays, Oct 25 and Nov. 8 and 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Washington Fire Hal. Topics will include hands-on care, safety, preventing and dealing with problems, managing medfoations, working with doctors and hospitals, findfog resources, financial and legal issues, coping with confusion and dementia and caring for the caregiver. There will be a training session held at the Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Board/Area Agency on Aging office located on Bradford Road in Culpeper from 9 am. to 12 p.m. Drivers are needed for a new accessible van program to help seniors and others travel to various appointments. Annual Fairy Tale Walk

Hearthstone School's annual Fairy Tale Wak (A non-scary event) will be held on Friday, Oct 26, at 7 p.m. Rain Date - Saturday Oct 27. Suggested donation: $5. Come in costume. Healthy treats wi be given out at each fairy tale scene. Cookies and cider will be served afterwards. See your favorite fairy tales come to life!
