What other pressing issues face the school board? How would you confront them?
Dropping enrollment is definitely an issue that must be planned and managed well. We have changed the school organization several times in the past seven years to adapt to changing requirements such as Standards of Learning accreditation, No Child Left Behind and pressure to perform better in every aspect of our educational services. I am familiar with adapting to accommodate needed change and improvement. These changes are not complicated if we continue to remember we are in the education business and every child’s success is our motivation.
An additional chal- [. lenge facing the next board is the appointment of the next superintendent of schools. The t job of finding and negotiating with a new superintendent is intense, sensitive and time consuming. The top position in our system affects everything we do as a school district and is the primary responsibility of the board.
Why should voters choose you?
I would like to think that Jackson District voters trust me to do the job. I believe I have earned their respect and that I have done well these past years facilitating the improvement of our schools.
