“I would like to point out that this is very nice—people coming out to support Mrs. Reeve—but we get recommendations from both sides,” Johnson said after no further names were recommended.
"There have been sonae suggestions lately about changes in the school board—some quite drastic,” he continued. “If a member hasn’t been on too long and has been doing a satisfactory job, we’re not given to taking that person out,” Johnson said, noting that it takes a while for a member to become familiar with school board duties and procedures.
Indicating their readiness to vote, trustees Christine Johnston and Granville Eastham nominated and seconded Mrs. Reeve for a four-year term from Piedmont District.
“Are there any other nominations?” asked Johnson. ‘‘This is a nomination, not a recommendation,” he reminded the other two trustees but was met with silence. "Are you ready to vote?” the chairman asked. Both Eastham and Mrs. Johnston voted in favor of the nomination with the chairman opposed.
