In response, Eastham moved that the appropriation for psychologist be increased by S2,000—still $3,500 below this year’s funding level. He repeated his contention that contracting with the mental health clinic would be cheaper than employing a school psychologist. Eastham also stressed that once again, he’d asked for and been refused specific financial information. He called for an immediate end to discussion and a vote on his motion.
"Just because you were right on one point,” Mrs. Massie countered, “I don’t think you can expect the board to take your figures without questioning.” She added that Eastham also lacked the authority to cut off discussion on an issue just because he was tired of talking about it. The rest of the board may want further discussion, she said.
