seeking the five council seats. The five incumbents, C. E. Giles, Jr., Dorothy Clater, Dorothy Hawkins, Charlie Jenkins and H. T. Updike were reelected. Sheila Estes was the sixth candidate who polled 39 votes. Write-in for council included John Norman with 20 ballots and Florence Tupper with 8.

Ellen Manson waged a write-in campaign for major and received 24 votes as opposed to Miller’s winning 57 out of the total 95 cast; 92 in person and 3 absentee. Several ballots were voided and several people received a vote or two for mayor.
