‘‘No one objects to a church but this is a little different,” Langbein told the supervisors Monday. Noting that her home was four houses away from the nineacre church campsite, she maintained that activities there would prevent her from being able to sell her property. ‘‘It’s changed the whole character of the residential area. It’s devalued property,” she said.
She emphasized that the camp will serve people from all over the country, not just congregations of local Pentecostal churches. “Last year, we had campers from Texas and Kentucky going up and down Route 729,” she recalled.
Langbein reported that during the two weeks of revival services, area residents were plagued by noise broadcast over the public address system well into the night and by lights shining directly on nearby houses.
