problems, to assess eligibility for home delivered meals, and to provide services which are not available through the health department. She currently checks blood pressures for 62 persons and has a caseload of 11 homebround persons.
Through the homemaker service, older workers provide companionship, do grocery shopping, prepare meals, and do light housekeeping for older persons who require such help to stay in their homes. The homemakers work under the supervision of a registered nurse and provide help to people who are not eligible under the Welfare Department but cannot afford to pay for such services themselves. Eight persons in Rappahannock are currently being assisted.
Advocacy and Counseling services are provided to persons with individual problems including financial difficulties. Social Security problems, insurance questions, housing problems, etc. Last year 116 cases were
