Contracts totaling approximately $23.5 million have been awarded by the State Highway and Transportation Commission for resurfacing some 1,500 miles of interstate and heavy-duty primary and secondary highways throughout the state. The annual resurfacing program is conducted to replace worn surfaces, restore skid-resisting qualities to heavily used highways and protect the existing road system. Projects for Culpeper District total $8,315,386 for 19 contracts covering 447 miles.
