Since Massie's and Stokes' terms don’t officially end until June 30. the supervisors can act on the two vacancies, if the method of appointment is changed, despite the action by the trustees on Monday.
Contacted on Tuesday, supervisor chairman E. P. Luke, the representative from Piedmont District, stated that he will nominate Nancy Reeve if the referendum passes. “She'll be a good school board member and I support her appointment." he said, adding that he thought a woman should have been selected for the opening. J. R. Latham, supervisor from Jackson District, said that he would also support the trustee’s reappointment of Beverly Massie as his district's representative on the board.
