Chairman E. P. Luke explained that the study will focus on options to single individual transportation, for instance morning copimuter buses and car pooling. “There are Trailway buses that come through here but only make one stop coming out Friday at the Corner Store and one stop Sunday on their way back from Luray,” Luke said.
“They only do that to keep their franchise,” added Clarence Baldwin.
In other action, the supervisors accepted the resignation of George Muth as the county’s representative on the area Community Services Board and agreed to write him a letter of appreciation for his volunteer service. The board also approved in concept a criminal justice advisory plan prepared by the planning district commission but delayed authorization of a SI92 appropriation to cover the county’s share of costs for state mandated police training programs included in the plan.—D.H.
