Richard Bowen from Carr and Hyde insurance company gave the supervisors at their Monday meeting a plan for comprehensive insurance coverage that will cost $10,156 in annual premiums.

Currently, the county’s only insurance is for damage to buildings in the court house complex, also under a policy with Carr and Hyde at an annual premium of $937.

“The big thing is the liability section,” Bowen acknowledged. Under the proposal, members of Rappahannocks local governing bodies will be covered for up to $1,000,000 in case of suit arising from official actions. Premium for the coverage is $2,338.

Bowman's proposal also includes general comprehensive liability covering bodily injury or property damage arising from use of premises owned by the county and protection for the county in the event that an accident occurs involving a private automobile driven on county business.

In adddition, the Carr and Hyde package provides protection against loss of county records ($15 premium), loss of money or securities ($250 premium), employee dishonesty ($628 premium), forgery ($87 premium), damage to the court house boiler ($339 premium) and medical payments of up to $1,000 for
