High school and college students from several states, aged IS and over, will gather on the campus of Virginia Tech this summer for the 13th annual Forestry and Wildland Resources Institute.
The Institute is designed to give students an opportunity to explore professional careers in the field of renewable natural resources. Through lectures, lab sessions and field trips the young people are introduced to six major resource areas: fisheries and wildlife, forestry, wood science, wood products, recreation and wildland ecology.
In addition to these topics, some time will be given to cover problems in soil, air, water and urbanization. Evening programs complement daytime schedules with a swim party and dance planned on the last evening.
Enrollment will be limited to about 65 with fees set at SI25 per person to cover tuition, room, board, field trips, supervision, insurance, and all materials needed for the five-day program.
