The Rappahannocf*" Rapidan Area Agency on Aging provides several different srevices for the 1,007 citizens of Rappahannock County who are 60 years of age or older. All of these services are intended to help older persons maintain their health, their mobility, their mental wellbeing and their independence. During the past year, about 200 Rappahannock residents have participated in one or more of the following programs.

The Nutrition Services program not only provides a hot lunch three days a week at the Hampton Inn in Washington, but also provides rides to and from the nutrition site, opportunities for those who don’t get out much to socialize, recreation programs, and counseling services.

In addition to the 40 seniors who come to the site for lunch, home delivered meals are sent on a regular basis to five folks who are homebound.

The Voice Of Experience, a newsletter containing information about programs and local concerns that affect the elderly, is distributed to 155 Rappahannock residents each month.

Home Health services are provided by a registered nurse. The nurse screens blood pressures regularly at the nutrition site and makes home visits to assess health
