Senior I.D. cards are distributed to persons 60 and over to identify them as eligible for Senior Discounts. Local merchants are asked to provide discounts on a voluntary basis.

Emergency grants of $50 for fuel or food are made on a one-time basis to older persons suffering from a crisis when no other source of help is available.

Home Winterization services are now available for low-income home owners. Winterization includes installation of storm windows, weatherstripping and attic insulation. In Rappahannock, 20 homes were winterized last year.

Interested persons are also invited to attend a public hearing on the proposed aging services for next year on Monday, June 16, 1:30 p.m., at the Area Agency on Aging office, 401 South Main Street, in Culpeper.
