Highest In PD

Rappahannock County had the highest unemployment rate for March, 1980, of the five counties in the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District.

Out of a work force of 2,305, Rappahannock had 133 persons or 5.8 per cent without jobs, according to the Virginia Employment Commission.

The rate for the state as a whole dropped to 4.4 per cent in March as compared to 4.8 per cent the previous month. The national rate for March was 6.6 per cent.

Unemployment rates for other counties in the planning district were 5.5 per cent for Culpeper, 3.4 per cent for Fauquier, 5.2 per cent for Madison and 4.4 per cent for Orange.
