Dr. Hopkins was chairman of the * department of sociology at Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. from 1963 to 1962. He also served as professor of so- , dology at Appalachian Stitt* Univef- ‘ sity in Boone, N.C. . !
In 1962, Dr. Hopkins went to Old ! Dominion University in Norfolk as chairman of the sociology department He taught there until his retirement in 1960.
Dr. Hopkins is survived by his wife, the former Jane Rudasill of Rappahannock, and three children: Pr. > William E. Hopkins, Jr., of Princeton University; Stephen A. Hopkins; and Carolyn Louise Hopkins of Norfolk and Woodville.
Simple graveside services will be conducted at St. Paul’s Episcopal in Woodville on Saturday, September 29, at 11a.m.
