Libyan Conapirator*a Farms On Auction Block
Fauquier County property owned by ex-CIA agent Edwin P. Wilson, convicted and imprisoned for selling arms to Libya, will be sold at a courthouse auction Tuesday in Warrenton.
Four farms, totalling 2,748 acres and appraised collectively at $7.4 million, w01 be offered to bidden. The property, near Upperville and Paris, is owned by Wilson, his attorneysnnd his ex-Vife Barbara H. Wilson, who divofeashhimia 1981 and who filed fee* partition of the property, which the sale is intended to satisfy. Under Virginia law, Mn. Wilson is entitled to half the property they owned as a couple.
Wilson, 56, was sentenced to 32 yean in federal prison and fined $345,000 after convictions in 1962 and 1983 on charges that he supplied weapons and training to Libyan terrorists, 1977-81. The Middle Eastern nation is ruled by dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
The Internal Revenue Service has a $24 million lien against Edwin Wilson’s interest in the property. The IRS alleges Wilson paid no taxes on the millions of dollars he made supplying arms and training to Libya. Wilson has filed
