The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Center, providing services for the aging, mentally ill, retarded and substance abuse clients of Planning District 9, has begun a fluidraising project to support its supervised apartment program.
Located in Orange County, the program serves clients from all five local counties and currently is the only residential program of its type in the area.
The purpose of the supervised apartment is to provide a programatic structure for the delivery of living skills and prevocational training, counseling and supervision for up to four mentally retarded clients at a time. Clients flow into the program from one supervised setting and graduate with the goal of learning the skills necessary to maintain an independent household in the community.
