The Rappahannock County High School Cross Country Teams began competing on Saturday, September 15, at Eastern Mennonite High School in Harrisonburg.
The varsity boys did not fare well as a team, coming in 13th out of 16 schools,” said Coach Ann Spieker. “However, comparing times from last year everyone knocked a half-minute or more off the course timing.”
The first two Rappahannock runners were Ronnie Atkins, who placed 21st, and Ricky Shaw, who placed 41st.
In the junior varsity boys’ meet, John Raney placed sixth, and Marley Hay came in 15th.
On Wednesday, September 19, the teams ran in a meet at Stonewall. Three schools competed in the meet, and the finishing order was Stonewall Jackson High School first with 23 points, Rappahannock second with 33 points, and Manassas Park third with
80 points.
