An artist created a watercolor image of one of Rappahannock’s visiting fruitpickers; a father balanced an infant on his shoulder while making a video recording.
In the final set, Mr. Jackson sang a song entitled “I’m a Bad, Bad Man”. The delicious irony of such a gentle man singing those words was underscored when a three-year-old boy in the audience called out, "This is blues!”
Art Workshops
In October, the Middle Street Gallery will sponsor two art workshops for young people, to be taught by Laurie Marshall, a load artist and former teacher in the Rappahannock schools. Her paintings, particularly her expressive portraiture, have been featured at Middle Street.
The first workshop will be held on October 7, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and will be for children between the ages of 6 and 12 years. The second workshop, on October 27, will be for teens, and will also run from 1 to 4 p.m. Both workshops will focus on the medium of acrylic painting.
