Three Rappahannock girls also competed at the meet. Denice Eidson placed second with a time of 24:58, Karen Ludwick placed third with 25:06, and Kathy Dodson placed fourth with 30:46.

On Saturday, September 22, the teams competed in the Wood berry Forest Invitational. The Rappahannock boys’ varsity team placed 13thout of 20 schools.

Finishing in the boys’ varsity competition were Ronnie Atkins (21), Ricky Shaw (50), David Fishbein (85), Jonathan Watson (91), John Dodson (116), and Tony Clark (121).

The Rappahannock varsity girls finishing were Denice Eidson (52) and Karen Ludwick (56). In the J. V. girls’ run, Kathy Dodson placed fifth out of 11 girls.

The J. V. boys’ team placed eighth out of 16 schools competing. Marley Hay received a ribbon for his 18th place finish.

“This is a rebuilding year for us since most of the team are underclassmen,” said Spieker. The first home meet for Rappahannock will be held on October 3 against Strasburg and Manassas Park.
