The spread of the gypsy moth into Virginia is no joke, and counties should begin to decide now what they'll do about the pest next spring. That message was delivered by Tom Finn of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services during the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection (RLEP) quarterly meeting September 21.
According to Finn, the same gypsy moth that has stripped thousands of acres of forest in Die northeastern United States and Canada is here - and he showed slides documenting the migration of the gypsy moth to the Commonwealth.
Finn first presented a film entitled “The Gypsy Moth, A Dilemma,” followed up by his department’s own slides and a discussion of the gypsy moth.
