In late April, the Warren County Council on Domestic Violence announced its plans to provide a “safe house” for women and children fleeing family violence. “We’re fortunate in our timing,” said Council president Barbara Greco. “We didn’t plan it this way, but our efforts come just as the public is becoming more aware of this serious family problem.”
The Warren county group has, since 1981, provided an all-night telephone answering service for victims of violence, referred them to a Winchester shelter or to a local motel, and provided them with counseling and support.
