Those showing decreases or holding steady include the commissioner of revenue’s office, registrar’s office, electoral board, the board of supervisors and its clerk, the circuit and general district courts, animal control, general maintenance of building and grounds, employment program administration and the board of zoning appeals.
Between the current budget and the proposed budget, the county has $180,000 available for a new landfill site. The 1985-86 budget includes a $90,000 line item for “Maintenance of county landfill: Improvements to sites;” a similar line item is included in the budget for the coming year presented to the supervisors on Monday.
At their May board meeting, the supervisors adjourned without setting a date for a budget work session.

“If this building is not handicapped accessible by October of this year, we’re liable to lose federal revenue sharing funds,” reported Clerk Diane Bruce.
In recalling cost estimates they’d secured previously, the supervisors noted that a chair lift to the upstairs courtroom would run approximately $25,000 and the necessary renovation for and installation of a long ramp through a downstairs window approximately $60,000.
