The Town of Washington held its bi-annual election of the mayor and the Town Council on Tuesday. There was no surprise in the voting for mayor. Dean F. Morehouse, running as an unopposed write-in candidate, won handily with a total of 52 votes.
Other citizens receiving write-in votes were J. Newbill Miller with two and Thomas Tupper, Mark Bailey, David Konick, C. E. Giles, Kermit Wearley, and Joyce Kramer, each with one vote.
There were nine candidates for the six seats on the Town Council, although J. Newbill Miller became ineligible to serve on the council when he was appointed last month to the Board of Supervisors to fib the vacancy left by the death of Clarence
