Other elementary school band students who participated were Susan Estes, clarinet, Kenny Giles, flute, Heidi Maeyer, clarinet, Jan Herman, clarinet, and Michele Early, flute.
High school student DiDi Salmon has participated in the festival for three years. She has played the flute for five years and enjoys the competitions. “The judges fill out forms that tell you what you’re doing wrong and that helps,” DiDi commented.
Other high school festival participants included Leslie Nichols, clarinet, Nathan Tanner, saxophone, Sean Wayland, trumpet, and David Fisher, trumpet. Sean Wayland and David Fisher performed a duet as well as their individual performances. Tara Fisher and Leslie Nichols acted as accompanists for some of the participants.
The high school and elementary bands can be heard by the public when they join for the Spring Band Concert scheduled for May 29.
