Bronze Star
Carson B. Johnson of Sperry ville was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service by Secretary of the Army, John O. Marsh in a ceremony April 17 at Fort Benning, Ga.
Mr. Johnson served as a sergeant in Company C, 193rd Glider Infants Regiment, 17th Airborne Division during World War II. He was involved in combat in the Middle East, African and European campaigns and was w ounded in Belgium in January 1945.
Mr. Johnson’s belated commendation came almost exactly 40 years after his discharge from the Army on April 20,1946.
