Tom Taylor, Rodney Grimsley and Dexter Freeman have been placing in the hurdles. Dexter is very close to the school record in the 300 meter hurdles. Tom Taylor and David Fisher have taken up the pole vault and score points by clearing eight feet, six inches. Fred Ausberry, Carroll Frye and Daniel Roy all throw the shot and discus, showing a lot of improvement this season.
Girls’ Track — While the boys are learning technique in the shot and discus the girls have been dominating the events. Wendy Stringfellow leads Tracey Sutphin, Leslie Nichols and Dee Dee Salmon in shot, while Chandra Davis leads discus throwers Wendy Stringfellow, Dorethea Butler and Penny Atkins. Often the girls place first throughfourth.
