TO: Citizens of Rappahannock County

Sections 22.1-281 through 22.1-286 of the Virginia School Laws require that beginning in 1980 and every three years thereafter, a school census be taken. These sections of the law require that the name, age, and other pertinent information be collected for each child one through 19 years of age and handicapped children ages 20 and 21 years of age.

Statistics from the census will be used by the State in determining the distribution of the one percent State sales tax money and other monies to the counties, cities, and towns Therefore, it is important to all residents that an accurate cen sus be made so that the County of Rappahannock receive its fair share of the monies.

Statistical summaries from the census will be used by the county of Rappahannock and by the State of Virginia in planning to meet future educational needs and as an aid in formulating future educational policies at the local and state levels, respectively.

Your cooperation and assistance is respectfully requested and appreciated.
