The contract with Community Trash to service the dumpster sites at Huntly and Scrabble as well as operate the landfill expires this fall.
For several years County Administrator John McCarthy has been saying the county should close the dumpster sites at Huntly and Scrabble and open one in a more central location, specifically off the U.S. 211522 corridor between Washington and Sperryville.
The Board of Supervisors and Mr. McCarthy are concerned with the cost of servicing the dumpster sites. They also are concerned about the potential liability of the county having the two sites unmanned and open to the public 24 hours a day.
