By any measure, the Rappahannock girls softball team is on a roll. The Lady Panthers won three games last week to run their record to 6-0, 4-0 in the Bull Run District. But the more remarkable statistic is that the team is 18-1 over the last two seasons, the only loss being the one that eliminated them from last spring’s postseason tournament.
Through Friday’s one-sided win at home against the George Mason Mustangs, the Lady Panthers were hitting .304 as a team, getting 35 hits in 115 at-bats in five games. Leading the team is last season’s alldistrict player Sherron Boddie with a .571 average and eight hits. Other hitting leaders include Dietrich Beaver, .556; Marsha Freeman, .417; and Bonnie Jewell, .313. And the starting pitcher, Susan Payne, has been unstoppable.
