Agreed to support Rose Ann Sharp in her bid to establish a Head Start program at the Child Care and Learning Center.
• Agreed to hold a public hearing on the school budget at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at the high school auditorium and another meeting the following Thursday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rappahannock Courthouse to adopt the school budget.
• Heard from Sandy Rives of the National Park Service that there is nothing that can be done about closing access to the trail at Big Devil Stairs.
• Adopted the revised six-year secondary road plan.
• Received a copy of the proposed questionnaire to be used in surveying county farmers for the Agricultural Advisory Committee. Alex Sharp, who presented the questionnaire, said he would be happy to receive suggestions on the questionnaire from the supervisors.
• Approved subdivisions for Berkley Rish, Werner Krebser, Pine Ridge and Joseph and Elizabeth Scherschel.
• Approved the Tradesmen’s Certification Ordinance.
• Learned that the Tour Du Pont bicycle race will cross through Rappahannock County May 12. The riders will travel along U.S. 522 from Chester Gap through Sperryville and then follow Route 231 to the Madison County line.
• Appointed Superintendent David Gangel to a new term on the Lord Fairfax Community College Board and Frank Reynolds to the Rappahannock Rapidan Divisional Court Services.
• Agreed to advertise for applicants interested in serving on the Library Board and Recreation Facilities Authority.
