Brilliant spring sunshine and a well-laid-out, challenging three-mile pace course greeted 34 hunter pairs who competed in the April 5 Old Dominion Hounds Hunter Pace at Ben Venue.
The Ben Venue course wound NfCpund the hunt territory surrounding the point-to-point course in Rappahannock County. Not surprisingly, the Rappahannock Hunt was well represented Sunday, bringing home victories in both optimum time divisions and shutting out the host hunt as well as the other ten hunts represented.
"Twelve different hunts, from Bedford to Potomac, competed here,” Mildred Riddell, joint-MFH of Old Dominion offered. “This course is known for being especially well planned, marked and timed. Three Old Dominion regulars rode the course and determined the optimum time.”
