Baseball Panthers
collect two victories
The Rappahannock boys baseball team won its second and third games of the season this week, beating George Mason and Stonewall Jackson-Mount Jackson to run its record to 3-3 overall, 2-3 in the Bull Run District.
In the Stonewall game Monday, standout senior Kevin Daymude threw a one-hitter and broke out of his pitching slump with a rocket triple in leading the Panthers to an 8-4 win.
The game was closer than the score, however, as Stonewall had the biuses loaded with the tying run at the plate with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Daymude struck out the last batter for the win.
The game went back and forth in the early innings, but strong defense by Rappahannock kept , the Stonewall batters eff base, said Coach Mike Tupper.
