Business Council to meet
The Sperryville Business Council will meet at 6 p.m. at Country Manor on Sunday, April 12. All members are urged to attend. Plans for the upcoming Memorial Day festival which will be held May 23-26 will be discussed.
Mothering Co-op to meet
The monthly meeting of the Mothering Cooperative will be held on Thursday, April 16 at Rappahannock Park. In case of rain the group will meet at Trinity Episcopal Church. A pot luck lunch will be held at 11:30 and beginning at 12:30 Laurie Marshall will speak to the group on “How to sketch your child.”
The Mothering Cooperative will sponsor another lecture at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock Library on Friday, April 24. Kathleen Maier and ' Sat Kartar Khalsa will be discussing ways to strengthen your child’s ■ immune system.
Contestants sought
The Spenyville Volunteer Fire Department is seeking young ladies for carnival queen. The carnival will be held May 27-30. Anyone wishing to be a contestant should call 987-8124 and leave a message.
NSDARtomeet
The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, will meet at 1:30 p.m. on April 14 at the Culpeper United Methodist Church in Culpeper. Mrs. Harding Thomas will present a program On “Before the White Men” with special emphasis on the Oklahoma Indian.
Seafood cookery program
The Extension Homemakers Clubs’ leader training program for May programs will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday, April 30 at the Extension Office. Marie Turner, retired Extension Home Economist in Fairfax County, will present a program on “Seafood Cookery. ” The public is invited to attend.
Organizational meeting
An organizational meeting for a new daytime Extension Homemakers Club will be held at the Extension Office at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday* April 30. If you are interested in joining a daytime club, come analeam what Extension Homemakers Clubs are all about. Plan to attend the morning program on “Seafood Cookery” at 10 a.m. too.
Car wash, bake sale
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will hold a car wash and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. The cost of the wash is $5 per car and will be held at the fire hall. Anyone wishing to donate baked goods should call Connie Harris at 675-3067.
The fire department is also planning an auction in May, so remember them when you do your spring cleaning.
